Bred at the University of Georgia by the same program behind TifTuf, it arrived in Australia in 2018 and spent years in local trials before release. The result is a tough, medium-textured zoysia with a soft feel underfoot and a striking blue green leaf.
Australis is built for real family backyards. It handles up to 75% shade and needs as little as four hours of direct sun a day, so it holds on in filtered light where many other grasses thin out. Strong rhizomes and a deep root system give it solid drought and heat resilience, and it stands up well to kids and pets.

Care & maintenance
Like all zoysias, Australis is a slow, steady grower, so it asks less of you than most lawns. Mow weekly at the peak of summer or stretch it out to every two or three weeks as growth slows, and two feeds a year keep its colour and density at their best. Water deeply while it establishes, then ease off once the deep root system has taken hold.
